Auxiliary Nursing Services (ANS) aims to train the unemployed literate young girls in genetic care and make them employable. The emerging nuclear families in Kerala leave the aged people alone in their homes. These people need assistance, especially when they become ill. Since 1993 KSSS started training to form a group of trained home nurses to address the care of the aged in families. So far 620 girls have been trained in 23 batches. Training includes theory classes, and practical training sessions for a period of three months. At present there are more than 100 trained home nurses for service.
